Pu Sam Cap caverns

Update: 06/16/2014
Coming to Lai Chau, not only tourists can immerse themselves in the spectacular mountain scenery, cloud-covered curving mountain passes, or discover unique cultures of 20 ethnic groups, but they also have the chance to enjoy the amazing beauty of Pu Sam Cap caverns.

Pu Sam Cap caverns include Thien Mon, Thien Duong and Thuy Tinh cave. About 7 km from Lai Chau town on the highway 129 to Sin Ho, Thien Mon cave appears wildly and mysteriously with a large arch. Groping in the dark in the cave we can feel the cold radiating from stones, the excitement at every step, with the darkness surroundings playing tricks adding to the worthy experience.

Many water drops from small stones falling into the tourists’ faces and heads, giving them the feelings of being under the summer rain. Coming to the center of Thien Mon cave, visitors will be surprised by the high huge arch and the curving lake-like ground with thousands of stalactites.

The water drop falling from the roof of the cave is like a smooth symphony. By the end of the cave, there is a column of light down from above that creates an impressive contrast between light and dark.

Passing that lighted space, tourists can experience the sense of adventure. Sidewalk along the slipping rocks is just enough for one person, requiring visitors to be extremely carefully on each step to avoid falling down.

After the Thien Mon, we would go to Thien Duong cave (the cave of heaven). Its way down is very rugged and dangerous. Visitors will experience the strong feelings of clinging to a vine following the slopping cliff.

Thien Duong cave is a natural gift for the visitors’ imagination when people see stalactites arranging in mysterious ways.

The cave curves like the terraced fields. Coming inside, we felt as if we are lost in the fairyland full of amazing flower–like stalactites such as orchids. There are stone columns with patterns carved by the hands of nature.

There is a gold stalactites column standing like a big umbrella, so people often call it “umbrella of heaven”. Coming inside, tourists will see a stream of stalactite full of strange shapes to inspire the imagination of the stilt that supports the heaven, gold stilt, silver stilt or the bronze drum…At the end of the cave we will be overwhelmed by the size of a huge majestic pelage with big gold stilts as a gift of the nature.

After half a day discovering the cave, tourists can relax in the natural primitive forests and enjoy the wild music in the sunset by the birds. The mysterious Pu Sam Cap caverns truly left in travelers’ heart a great impression.
